I founded The Singing Heart Project after a lifetime of loving the expressive arts as a means to let the inside out and feel the fullness of life. I create nurturing song circles for play, personal growth, healing and community building. Based in Etobicoke, Ontario, I am also the mama of three boys and trained as a singer, actor, dancer, lawyer and yoga teacher.
I grew up on musicals. In a musical, a character sings when words alone aren’t enough. When there is no way out but through song. But we don’t have to be in a musical to sing.
Play is my magical ingredient for a happy life. The Singing Heart Project’s mission is to cultivate a playful space to build community through song circles. My hope is that our community is inspired to naturally weave more music into everyday life.
I want everyone to leave feeling uplifted and with pockets full of songs to soothe, rejoice and root down, as we wind our way through what it means to be on earth at this time.
When I was first trying to find some kind of balance between motherhood and work life, songs became the foundation of my home life. There was a song for bathtime, for cleaning up, for bedtime, for starting and ending the day. This brought comfort, silliness and routine. Home, music and my sons were the anchor to my days as I went off into the world to play grown-up. I was aching for a grown-up world that had more daily life songs…so I decided to make it happen!
